About my journey
A Reflective History
I find words lacking when it comes to describing who and what I am. But we must begin somewhere in finding common ground through words that will either resonate, or not.I am a mystic. I crave direct experience with the Divine. I am also a mom, a writer and artist, a teacher, a lover of the living and nature, a shamanic practitioner, an energy healer, and a tarot reader. When considering my purpose, I would have to say that I am here to serve. As an extension of a quarter century of being a teacher, I am being called to serve in another capacity - as a midwife for those in states of spiritual awakening and transformation. How did I get here? I have had a relationship with the “otherworld” since I was a small child. Thankfully, I had a grandmother who was a medium, healer, and tarot reader - a Christian mystic - to help guide me in not only understanding what I was experiencing, but also to have faith in my abilities. Of course, she could not guide me forever, and after her passing, I found myself feeling alone in my experiences, unwelcome in a culture that was in denial of its spiritual roots and energetic reality.
For decades, I have been seeking to understand more about my experiences. My quest led me down a long and winding path of discovery, collecting wisdom from mythologies, world religions, philosophy, physics, the mystical, the esoteric.
In the realm of the mystical and esoteric, there are two fields that have existed with persevering consistency: astrology and shamanic experience. While I am a neophyte of astrology, I cannot say the same of shamanism. When I realized that my own experiences echo those of shamans around the world and throughout time, I finally felt like I was home. What I have studied has led me to conclude that the shaman-priest/esses throughout time and across cultures are all describing the same spiritual experiences, albeit in their own contexts of time and place, including the biased barriers of their cultures and geographies. I am honored to have been able to tap into those common experiences of humanity that expand beyond the 3D, not only to heal myself, but to help guide others in their own healing. Most of all, here I have found connection - deep feelings of belonging. So, esoteric systems and stories have been a guiding light for spiritual journey, and they have been immensely valuable in helping me to become a better version of myself. Teachings that deeply resonate with me are shamanic practice, (Siberian and Andean), the Kybalion, principles of Qabalah and the Kemetic Tree of Life, the Tao, sacred geometry, quantum physics, and sound healing, as well as tarot, astrology, and other mystical arts.
I give eternal thanks to the work of these pivotal thinkers:
Spiritual teachers: Yogagnanda, Gandhi, Michael Singer, Shakespeare, William Blake, Plato,
Remembering our (alternative) histories: Manly P. Hall, Joseph Campbell, C.G. Jung, Merlin Stone, Graham Hancock, Gregg Braden, Madam Blavatsky,
Science and math that bridges to esoteric: Ibrahim Karim, Lynn McTaggert, Fritjof Capra, Donald Hoffman, Joe Dispenza, Edward Grant, Steven Forrest,
Our pagan roots: Silver RavenWolf, Starhawk, the Tao, Buddhism
Key figures in awakenings: Lee Harris, Matias De Stefano, Stephen Greer,
The above is only a sampling for there are truly too many to list, but they provide my “flavors” as well as a starting place for study for any who might be interested. I am thankful for the courage of beings such as these to share their experiences, their understandings, their voices, all so that someone like me - like you - can access and feel connected in this sea of life energy in which we are suspended.
Looking at the range in the small sampling of thinkers who have helped to guide me, one would conclude I pull from many fields. I am a sum of my parts - a mosaic. My truth lies within me and cannot be anyone else’s truth.
As an essential piece of my journey, and my most cherished experience - and teacher - now that I am on the other side of my doubts, fears, and traumas, is the major Dark Night of the Soul that I have undergone. Through its process, I came to believe that shadow work is an essential part of healing and evolution. It takes great courage to face our darkness and trauma. Our healing and transformation us to deliver us to our authentic selves.
